How do I know if I am a candidate for blepharoplasty?
Patients who have been struggling with sagging skin in the upper and/or lower eyelid, a partially closed eye, puffiness, or bagginess under the eye may be a good candidate for blepharoplasty. There are many factors to consider, including your health history, overall physical condition, and your cosmetic and functional goals and perceptions. Schedule a complimentary consultation with Dr. Weinstein to discuss your options and goals. A detailed evaluation, health history, and physical assessment will be required before determining whether this surgical treatment is right for you.
Is this procedure covered by insurance?
While our office does not file medical insurance for cosmetic procedures, it is possible that your carrier will cover a portion of your treatment. Please check with your individual insurance carrier to learn details. It is also possible that a medical flex spending account may provide reimbursement for this treatment. If your insurance or flex plan will reimburse you, we will be happy to provide documentation and medical records as needed. You will require a vision test by an ophthalmologist prior to surgery if you are seeking reimbursement.
How much recovery time do I need after surgery?
Most patients return to normal activity within 3 to 7 days. Exertion and vigorous exercise are not recommended for 10 to 21 days after surgery. You will require sutures and special eye drops during recovery. The sutures are usually removed within 7 to 10 days after surgery.
Can I combine eyelid surgery with other surgical and non-surgical treatments?
Yes. Many treatments that we offer can be combined. You will require a consultation with Dr. Weinstein to determine a specific treatment plan and to decide if the treatments you are seeking may be performed simultaneously.
