Pre- and Post- Treatment Instructions

Before Your Treatment

• Avoid aspirin, NSAID’s, St. John’s Wort, and high doses of vitamin E prior to treatment.
• Inform your clinician if you have a history of cold sores or herpes virus. You may require a prescription medication prior to treatment to help prevent outbreaks.

After Your Treatment

• You may experience a mild sunburn sensation for 1 to 2 hours after treatment. Redness and swelling will vary depending upon your skin and the treatment. Your skin may have a pinkish tone for several days, which is a normal sign that skin is healing deeply.
• You may apply makeup and shave soon after treatment.
• Most patients are able to return to normal activities the same day as treatment.
• Your skin may have a bronze appearance for 3 to 14 days depending on the treatment level.
• Your skin will naturally and vigorously exfoliate after treatment. Flaking and dryness are signs that this is taking place. You may use a moisturizer during this period.
• Use sunscreen at least twice daily to protect your skin for several months after treatment. It is a good idea to always use a sunscreen as a part of your daily regimen.
