Pre- and Post- Treatment Instructions
Before Your Treatment
There are very few pre treatment instructions for BOTOX® Cosmetic injections.
- Avoid taking aspirin, St. John’s Wort, High doses of vitamin E, Motrin, Advil, Anaprox, Narosyn, Aleve, or other NSAID’s for one week prior to treatment.
- Do not have Botox Cosmetic injected into any open sores or broken skin.
After Your Treatment
- Avoid massaging the area for 3 to 4 hours.
- Exercise each one of the injected muscle groups 2 to 3 times each hour for 3 to 4 hours.
- Remain in an upright position for 3 to 4 hours. Avoid napping to prevent inadvertently lying on the area or rubbing it while sleeping.
- Avoid aerobic exercise for 3 to 4 hours
- A “lazy eyelid” is a possible side effect of Botox. If this occurs, it can be treated with an over-the-counter antihistamine eye drop. You may contact the office for detailed instructions.
- Avoid bending over, lifting, or straining for 3 to 4 hours.
- The effects of Botox will be seen as early as 2 to 3 days, but may take up to four weeks to achieve the full effect. If you feel that you require additional Botox, please wait 4 to 6 weeks after your initial treatment to schedule you appointment. We always use the minimal dose necessary to achieve desired results. Additional treatments may not be included in the original purchase.
