Laser Skin Tightening
Laser Skin Tightening is a non-invasive laser therapy used to tighten skin that has lost elasticity due to age and/or photo-damage. In just one session, patients will notice dramatic results, including a smoother, more even skin tone and softened frown lines. Laser Skin Tightening can also improve the appearance of sun damage and stretch marks.
At our Las Colinas office, we use one of two lasers to perform Laser Skin Tightening. Dr. Weinstein will use either the Fraxel® SR 1500 laser or the Candela Gentle YAG laser, depending on your unique needs. The two lasers work slightly differently, and it is best to consult with your doctor or esthetician about which laser is right for you. How does it work?
A beam of high-intensity light penetrates deeply into skin tissue, where it delivers a controlled amount of targeting therapeutic heat. These wave lengths improve the elasticity of the skin by stimulating collagen growth beneath the skin’s surface. If being treated with the Fraxel SR laser, the laser is administered in microscopic columns of heat, which penetrate deeply and affect only a fraction of the skin’s surface each session.
Does treatment hurt?
There can be some discomfort associated with this type of laser treatment, however topical or local anesthetic agents are used in order to minimize or eliminate discomfort.
How many treatments will I need?
Laser Skin Tightening treatment plans are tailored for the individual. For treatment with the Gentle YAG laser, patients will require 4 to 6 treatments. For treatment with the Fraxel SR Laser, patients will require about four treatments.
Are there any side effects?
There are minimal side effects. Patients may experience some swelling, redness, purpura (a laser bruise), hyperpigmentation, or hypopigmentation after Laser Skin Tightening. These symptoms do not usually last for more than a few days.
