Patients who have localized fatty deposits in facial areas such as under the eyes, chin, and neck may be good candidates for facial liposuction if they meet the following criteria:

Is fat removal permanent?
Yes. Fat which is removed from the body is not replaced by new fat cells. After puberty, the body no longer produces new fat cells. Remaining fat cells can be enlarged through weight gain, but no new cells will form in the treated areas.

How many procedures are required?
One procedure is usually all that is necessary. Some patients require subsequent procedures in order to fine-tune results.

How much recovery time is necessary?
Facial liposuction involves a surgical procedure which will require a few small sutures. Patients may be required to wear a pressure dressing for a time after surgery. Swelling and bruising are common. Most patients are able to return to normal activities after about 2 to 4 days.
